The CM582-DP is a plug-in communication module for ABB AC500 PLCs that provides a PROFIBUS DP interface. It acts as a PROFIBUS DP slave device, allowing the AC500 PLC to be integrated into PROFIBUS networks. The module has a single RS-485 Profibus port (9-pin D-sub) supporting baud rates up to 12 Mbps and typical PROFIBUS DP-V0/V1 features. Powered from the PLC base (no external supply required), the CM582-DP is simply added to the AC500's communication slots to enable connectivity to PROFIBUS masters. It supports standard DP diagnostics and is equipped with status LEDs for power and network status. The CM582-DP module is DIN-rail mounted alongside the CPU and is designed for the same industrial temperature range (0 to +60 °C) as the AC500 system. By using this module, an AC500 PLC can seamlessly exchange data with PROFIBUS fieldbus networks (e.g. remote I/O, drives, HMI gateways) as a slave node, making it a flexible option for integrating the PLC into existing PROFIBUS installations.
