The BCU-02 is an industrial bus coupler module used to interface ABB control systems (e.g. AC 800M in System 800xA) with remote I/O and fieldbus networks. It serves as a PROFIBUS DP communication master, supporting data rates up to 12 Mbps and up to 125 nodes per segment. The BCU-02 operates from a 24 V DC supply (2–3 W) and features galvanic isolation (1500 VAC) between the fieldbus and system sides for high reliability. Housed in a DIN-rail or panel-mount metal case, this module is designed for harsh environments (–25 °C to +70 °C operating range) and includes LED indicators for power, communication status, and fault diagnostics. The BCU-02 facilitates real-time data exchange between an ABB controller and distributed I/O devices, with support for redundant configurations to ensure high availability in critical automation systems.
