CI854A Profibus Interface Module

The CI854A is a communication interface module for ABB's AC 800M controller (part of the 800xA DCS), providing a PROFIBUS DP-V1 master interface to connect the controller to PROFIBUS fieldbus networks. The module features two independent PROFIBUS DP channels (9-pin D-sub female ports) allowing for dual PROFIBUS segments or redundant configurations from a single module. Each channel can operate up to 12 Mbps and support the full DP-V1 functionality (cyclic I/O and acyclic data/alarms). The CI854A plugs into the AC 800M's CEX-bus and up to 12 such modules can be used per controller for large networks. It supports line redundancy and module redundancy – in a redundant pair of AC 800M controllers, paired CI854A modules can mirror network control to improve availability. The unit supports hot swap (can be replaced online in redundant setups) to minimize downtime. Power is supplied via the controller base unit (24 V DC internal bus). The CI854A's operating range is +5 °C to +55 °C and it is certified for harsh locations (marine approvals, G3 coating for corrosive atmospheres).
